Irritated by his sister’s privileged attitude, he said something along the lines of, “If you keep going at this rate, Dad will be paying your rent well into your 40s.”
It caused a rift between him and his family, and they all started getting angry. His mom told him his sister was more independent and mature than him because she had an apartment.
“My mom saying that my sister’s ‘independence’ is better than mine is laughable,” he said.
He argued that his sister has never had to pay for anything herself, from her rent to her expensive college tuition. Meanwhile, he saved money by living at home, went to a cheaper school, and is about to get a job before his sister. Therefore, he thinks he is much more mature than his sister.
However, his dad told him that if he didn’t have anything nice to say that day, he shouldn’t have said anything at all. So now, he’s wondering if he took things too far by saying what he said to his sister.
Was he being too harsh with his sister?
