His Ex-Girlfriend Wrote Him A Letter Asking To Be Friends Again, But He Turned Her Down

About 10 months ago, this man got broken up with by his ex-girlfriend– who he had been with for one year.
But, he admitted that their relationship had been rocky, mainly because his ex never really put in any effort or showed that she cared about him.
Then, right after she broke up with him, she jumped into a new relationship with another guy just a couple of days later.
“And every time she could, she would flaunt it– even making out with the guy right in front of me while I was at work,” he recalled.
Now, his ex’s new relationship only lasted about three months. But he still never expected to hear from his ex again.
Well, that was until just yesterday, when he received a two-page letter from his ex in which she basically reflected on their entire relationship.
First, his ex apologized for immediately jumping into another relationship and flaunting it in front of him right after they broke up.
She also acknowledged the fact that she hurt him and wanted him to know that their relationship meant something to her.
“And she’s sorry the new relationship made it seem like I was simply replaced,” he added.

On top of that, his ex also admitted to loving how he never judged her. His ex even said that he was practically perfect for her but claimed to know that he deserved someone better.
So, while his ex owned up to not being a good girlfriend, she said that she wanted to be a better friend if he gave her a chance.
Now, his ex knew that he had moved on already and was actually happy for him. However, she told him that if he still had her number, then he could text any time.
Finally, his ex claimed that she did not want to pressure him in any way but reiterated that the ball was in his court if he wanted to proceed.
While the letter might sound nice and promising, he was left feeling utterly confused. He had no clue whether his ex really just wanted a friendship or if she just wanted to potentially get back together.
And that honestly made him frustrated since his old feelings for her started to bubble up again.
“But I know I can’t be friends with her because my desire to be in a relationship would come back, and I’m not sure if I want that to happen,” he explained.
That’s why, after doing some thinking, he decided to just reach out and talk to his ex. They wound up discussing many of the things he felt that she did wrong in their relationship, as well as their mindsets.
For instance, his ex claimed that she didn’t want to hurt him by flaunting her new relationship– but apparently, her new boyfriend at the time wanted to make their relationship public and persuaded her to follow suit.
“She also told me that she doesn’t know what she wants, but that she wants me to be in her life as a friend because of how I was with her when we were dating,” he revealed.
Still, he wound up telling his ex that if she hadn’t hurt him like that, then they could be friends. But, due to what she did, he doesn’t know how to be friends with her anymore.
He did tell his ex that she was not a bad person. He also admitted to feeling glad that she had made changes to better herself.
“And she seemed very sincere, but I feel that I made the right choice,” he concluded.
How would you feel if you received a letter like this from your ex? Did he do the right thing by declining to have any sort of relationship with his ex-girlfriend again? Or would you have reacted differently?
