A Former Female Student He Taught In College Moved To His Town, Asked Him Out For A Beer, And Admitted To Having A Crush On Him, So He Wants To Ask Her Out On A Date But Isn’t Sure If It’s The Wrong Thing To Do

This 35-year-old man is a professor at a liberal arts college. And one of the best students he ever taught was a woman named Jenny, who is now 28.

Jenny was his student when she was in her early twenties, and he taught her in various classes. He was also Jenny’s mentor for her final capstone project, and she worked with him on numerous papers and books that he published.

“She was truly a brilliant student, and I’ve never had a better student before or after,” he recalled.

To be clear, though, he and Jenny were simply friends– nothing more. He never even thought of her in a romantic way despite deeply respecting her intelligence and work.

Not to mention, when Jenny was his student, he was already in a long-term relationship.

So, she graduated, and they simply remained friends afterward.

However, a few years ago, he and his long-term girlfriend broke up. Then, he began dating new women.

Still, Jenny hadn’t entered the picture again until about one week ago, when she sent him a random message.

Apparently, his old student had moved back to town– where he lives– and she asked him out for a drink.

He agreed, and they went out to grab a beer and catch up. But, he was soon very caught off guard when Jenny asked if he was single (he is) and admitted to having a crush on him for a long time.

“I never let myself think about her in this way, and I was surprised to hear her say this,” he said.

He was so taken aback, in fact, that he had no clue how to respond. So, they wound up talking about other topics for the remainder of the night.

He felt as though they had some great conversations, and eventually, they both decided to head home. But that wasn’t before Jenny claimed that she would love to go out with him again sometime.

So now, he would honestly really like to ask Jenny out on a real date.

She’s already been graduated for six years.

“And she’s always been brilliant and now has also become completely gorgeous,” he added.

But he’s obviously hesitant about pursuing Jenny since she used to be his student.

“And I don’t want to ruin a friendship with someone who I connect with intellectually in such a beautiful way,” he vented.

That’s why he’s now been left wondering whether he should ask Jenny out on a date and if that would be the wrong thing to do.

Do you think enough time has passed since he was Jenny’s teacher? Are they both old enough now that a seven-year age gap isn’t that big of a deal? If you were in his shoes, what would you do?
