If you’re getting married and want your beloved pup to be part of your wedding but worry about the logistics, don’t fear; there are ways to make it happen!

Many couples back out of having their dog at their wedding because they fear something could go wrong.

While it would be adorable to have them perfectly strut down the aisle during your ceremony, not every dog can do that, and you don’t want to stress out about your dog for your entire wedding.

But with some planning in advance, you can make your dog a memorable part of your wedding whether they’re physically there or not.

If you physically want your pet at your wedding, there are logistics you must take care of during the planning process.

You want to make sure your ceremony or reception venue would allow a pet there, you’ll need to see if one of your close friends or family members would be willing to watch your dog for you, and you’ll want to make sure your venue isn’t too far away from home.

It’s also important to consider your dog’s behavior and temperament, evaluating whether or not they’re good around crowds of people and loud environments and can steer clear of any decorations.

One of the best ways to have your dog be a part of your wedding is to have a loved one or pet sitter bring them by for a quick visit.

This way, you’ll see your furry friend on your wedding day, but they won’t have to stay there all night, and you won’t have to worry about them.

Unless you have a pet sitter willing to stay with your pup in a nearby pet-friendly hotel or Airbnb, this works best if your wedding is not too far from home.

You can have your dog stop by before or after the ceremony for pictures and quality time, or you can have them make a quick appearance at your reception so they can say hello to everybody.

Then, you can leave it up to your pet sitter or loved one to get them home safely.

If the logistics don’t work out and having your dog physically at your wedding is too complicated, consider some alternative options to pay homage to them on your special day.

You can make a cardboard cutout of your dog and prop it up at the reception!

There are a ton of custom cardboard cutout sites that will make a life-size print of your pup to pose with and make everyone smile during your wedding.

When designing your wedding invitations, you can include your dog on them! If you want to take professional engagement photos for your invitations, have your pup in a few.

Then, you can use them on the front or back of your invites. It’s a super cute way to show off your family and include your dog in a special moment.

Depending on your drinks package at your reception, if you’re allowed to have a ‘signature cocktail’ of the evening, name one after your dog!

Think of your favorite cocktail, whether it be a traditional recipe or your own, then name it after your pup.

For instance, if your dog is named “Luna” and you love a Cosmopolitan, print out special drink menus where you rename it as “The Luna” or “Luna’s Cosmo.”

Finally, like the cardboard cutout, one of the simplest ways to be reminded of your dog at your wedding is to incorporate some photos of them. If you have couples photos as part of your decor or centerpieces, why not add a few of your dog?

You could print a small photo of your pup and stick it in your bouquet. You can also prop one up by your cake, add a few to some tables, etc. Remembering their precious face will almost feel like they’re with you on your big day.

Whether or not your furry friend can make it to your wedding, there are so many ways to keep them with you when you say ‘I do.’
