If You Live In The Big Apple And Could Use A Break From The Chaos, Here Are Some Idyllic Weekend Getaway Spots Close To New York City

While living and spending time in New York City is fabulous and fun, it can get exhausting.
As you probably know, New York City has been dubbed “the city that never sleeps” because of its fast-paced energy and late-night entertainment hubs and restaurants. As fun as that is, it can get really tiring, and sometimes, you need a break.
Taking a break from New York City often involves getting out of town and going somewhere that isn’t as loud and chaotic.
If you’ve been living or staying in the Big Apple and could use a weekend getaway, here are a few options that aren’t too far away from the city.
The Catskills
Staying near an Airbnb near the beautiful Catskill mountains is an excellent choice for getting out of the city and reconnecting with nature.
There are several adorable New York towns to choose from, like Woodstock, Athens, and Hunter, that have great boutiques, restaurants, bars, and, of course, lovely views of the mountains.
Purchase, New York
Purchase is a great part of New York to visit, especially if you’re interested in art, architecture, and academia. It’s home to the famous SUNY Purchase College, where you can find one of the country’s largest university museums, the Neuberger Museum of Art, which holds artwork from famous artists such as Georgia O’Keefe and Jackson Pollock.

You can also visit the Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Gardens for more art.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
If you don’t have much of an urge to see more nature and love a city vibe but want to explore a new one, take a day trip to Philadelphia! Philadelphia is a great place to explore if you’re a history buff and want to check out some spots where America’s founding fathers made history.
In Center City, you can see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed. There’s also the famous Philadelphia Museum of Art, where you can pose with the Rocky statue!
The Hamptons
You don’t have to be a cast member on the Real Housewives of New York City to enjoy some time in the Hamptons. They’re so popular among New Yorkers because they’re so easy to get to. You can enjoy a day walking around Sag Harbor, Montauk, and East Hampton.
There are beaches, vineyards, shops, and restaurants to enjoy. The Hamptons can be on the pricey side, so if you can’t commit to staying overnight, it’s still a great place to visit for a day trip.
The Jersey Shore
Whether it’s during the summer or winter, New Jersey beach towns are accessible through NJ Transit and are a fun place to visit. You can visit Asbury Park for some great live music, Seaside Heights for the famous “Jersey Shore” boardwalk, or Spring Lake for a little more peace and quiet.
Expect these towns to be a bit more slow and serene during the colder months and a hoot during the summertime.
