If Your Kids Are Totally Bored Of Being Stuck Inside This Winter, Here Are 15 Unique Indoor Activities To Cure Everyone’s Cabin Fever

Right about now, winter is starting to feel endless– especially if you have kids who are constantly bouncing off the walls.
Let’s face it: we are all sick of being stuck inside. But, with a bit of imagination, staying indoors doesn’t have to be a total drag.
Here are 15 inventive and fun activities to keep your kids entertained and engaged right inside your very own home.
1. Build A Fort Of Their Dreams
Who needs a playground when you have blankets and pillows? Building a fort is a classic childhood activity that sparks a ton of enthusiasm and creativity.
You can let your kids do all the work, too. Just set them up with blankets, pillows, and furniture and let them go to town designing and creating their own fortress.
2. Host An Indoor Treasure Hunt
To pull off this idea, all you have to do is create clues and hide little treats around your house. You can even use candy or snacks if you have nothing else on hand.
Then, give your kids the clues and watch as they turn into little detectives trying to solve riddles and search for hidden treasures.

This won’t only be entertaining– and give you a moment alone to breathe– but it’s also great for fostering problem-solving skills.
3. Experiment With DIY Science Projects
Simple science experiments using household items can be both fun and educational, too.
From making a volcano with baking soda and vinegar to making slime with glue or creating a rainbow with a glass of water and sunlight, the possibilities are totally endless, and YouTube will be your best friend.
4. Get Artsy
A beloved activity among most kids is arts and crafts time. So, let your little ones unleash their inner Picasso by setting up an art session.
Just lay out some paints, crayons, and paper, and let their creativity flow. You can also give them a drawing prompt to spark motivation or incorporate recyclable materials to teach about sustainability.
5. Indoor Obstacle Course
Everyone remembers, “The floor is lava!” So why not recreate a similar memory for your own children?!
You can use pillows, chairs, and tables to create a fun obstacle course right through your own living room. And while this will totally tire your kids out, it will also improve their motor skills.
6. Cook Together
Cooking can be a fun and educational activity with a nice, savory, or sweet reward at the end.
You can get your kids involved by allowing them to pick out a simple recipe– whether that be for pizza or cookies. Then, let them lend a hand in the process.
You’ll teach them a tasty lesson about measuring and following directions.
7. Put On A Puppet Show
Another classic is the good old-fashioned sock puppet show. You can let your kids decorate some of their own old or worn-out socks, repurposing them into personalized puppets.
Then, you’ll finally get to sit back and relax while they put on a performance for the whole family.
8. Yoga For Youngsters
As you try to keep calm and find your zen, get your kids involved and introduce them to a great exercise for both mental and physical health: yoga.
There are plenty of child-friendly yoga videos online that can guide them through fun and simple poses, and you’ll get a literal breather in the process.
9. Indoor Camping
If you can’t go outside, take the festivities inside! Kids love nothing more than unexpected surprises.
So, set up a picnic and sleeping bags in the living room and watch as they practically explode with excitement. You can all sit around, tell stories, and have snacks– just like at a real campfire.
10. Go Down Memory Lane
If you’re feeling nostalgic, you can also whip out the hoards of photo albums that I know you have lying around and go through them with your kids.
This is a great way to teach them about their family lineage and reminisce about childhood memories.
11. Board Game Bonanza
It’s always fun to dust off those board games and have a fun family game night, too. Whether you’re into Twister, Monopoly, Candy Land, or Trivia, family nights are a great way to bond and facilitate some friendly competition.
12. DIY Indoor Mini-Golf
Another cool way to compete indoors is by creating a mini-golf course right in your own living room.
All you need are some cups, laid on their side to act as “holes,” and a toy golf set. Not only will the kids have a blast, but it’s also a great activity for developing hand-eye coordination.
13. Put On A Fashion Show
If you’re down for the extra laundry later, you could even let your kids raid their closets– or your closet– and piece together outfits to put on a fashion show at home.
This activity can help encourage creativity, self-expression, and confidence among your kiddos.
14. Story Time
You can also have a read-aloud session with some of your children’s favorite books. If you have multiple kids, you can allow each child to pick one book. Then, you can have a “Readathon.”
Plus, you can even encourage your older children to get in on the fun and read to their younger siblings.
15. Dance Party
Last but not least, you can never go wrong with turning up the music and having a dance party. Everyone’s spirits will be lifted– parents included– and you’ll even get some exercise in.
