If You Want To Take Your Dog On Vacation With You This Summer, These Beaches Will Let You Bring Your Furry Best Friend
One of my favorite things to do during the summertime is take my two dogs and a few friends to the beach.
As a girl who grew up and still lives on the East Coast, I’m very fortunate to live near a handful of dog-friendly beaches.
I particularly love the ones where your dogs can run around and play, but you can still go in the ocean yourself and have a normal beach day.
A doggy beach day is the best – you take your pups, some comfortable sand chairs, some drinks and snacks, some friends, and more to the beach. Then, you get to sit back and relax or take a relaxing walk as you watch your pup frolic in the sand and play with other dogs.
There are a few downsides to dog beach days, the biggest probably being having to clean up after them in the sand and having them track sand back into your house.
But honestly, it’s all worth it to see them so happy and playful near the ocean. If you’re looking to take your pup to a dog beach this summer, here are some of the most popular ones around the country.
Cannon Beach, Oregon
Starting on the West Coast, Cannon Beach is a beautiful and gorgeous beach that also happens to be dog-friendly.
There is a requirement, however. Dogs must be leashed or able to be controlled by their owner’s voice. For instance, if your pup has trouble listening to you and your commands, you should keep them on a leash.
Besides that, Cannon Beach offers stunning views and cool rock structures and is located near many dog-friendly destinations.
Asbury Park Dog Beach, New Jersey
Asbury Park is a famous beach town in New Jersey that is best known for its live music venues and Bruce Springsteen culture.
It’s also well known for being a very dog-friendly town. Their dog beach opens at 6:00 pm and is located on a quiet, scenic section of the beach, perfect for roaming dogs. When you’re finished on the beach and have an appetite, you can eat at a large selection of pet-friendly restaurants.
Huntington Dog Beach, California
This beach is known for being one of the most dog-friendly in the state of California. The beautiful beach sits along the famous Pacific Coast Highway and will give you and your pup a memorable day.
They often host cute dog events like meet-ups if you’re interested in socializing, and the beach is very accessible.
Jupiter Dog Beach, Florida
If you’re a Florida resident or find yourself vacationing with your pup in Florida this summer, you should check out Jupiter Dog Beach.
There is a 2.5-mile stretch of dog-friendly beach to enjoy, and it’s one of the most dog-friendly beaches in the state.
Leashes are optional, there’s plenty of free parking, and it’s a great space for chilling with your beach-loving dog.
Cisco Beach, Massachussetts
If you’re on the East Coast this summer and want to change things up or need a break from city life, take your pup to Cisco Beach.
Dogs do have to be on a leash, but other than that, it’s a very accessible place to bring them. The beach has a very nice atmosphere and is perfect for dogs who enjoy a calm stroll along the shore.
There you have it – great options for a fun beach day with your dog. If you haven’t taken your dog to the beach yet, it’s recommended you walk them around leashed for a bit to ensure they’re not anxious or defensive in that environment. Once they get used to it, they’ll have a ball. Enjoy!
