Two Men Tried To Break Into This Teen Girl’s Hotel Room And She Used Advice From Her Police Officer Stepdad To Keep Herself Safe

Ocean City, Maryland. 19-year-old Josie Bowers is recounting a horrifying incident on TikTok that happened in a hotel room when she was on vacation with her parents and younger sisters.
Josie is from Canada, and she was 15-years-old when she took a trip to Ocean City with her family.
“I was staying in Ocean City at the Hilton right there on the waterfront and I went to go shower as the rest of my family was down at the beach,” Josie explained in a TikTok video.
“So I was by myself. Before I could shower, I heard these noises. I went to go see what it was, and it was this contraption.”
The contraption was essentially a long piece of wire with a hook on the end that slid underneath Josie’s hotel room door.
The person outside could use the contraption to pull the door handle down and gain access to her room.
Josie was standing in her hotel room, dressed only in a towel, when a man opened up her hotel room door with the help of the contraption.
Josie thought very quickly on her feet, and here’s what she did next to keep herself safe.

“My main thought was holy s*** I’m in a towel right now, and someone is about to break in and…get me,” Josie said in a second video she shared to TikTok.
“So the door opens a crack, and I just slammed it back shut and put the deadbolt on.”
She could hear the man speaking to another man outside the door that she had shut in their faces.
One of the men then tried to tell Josie through the door that they were there from the hotel’s services department.
At first, Josie stopped to consider that they were there to help her with something. The man continued speaking to her on the other side of her door, saying he was there to fix her front door.
When Josie questioned them about what the problem was with the door, the men offered up that her key card wasn’t working as an explanation.
Josie wasn’t buying it at all.

Next, Josie opened up her door to take a peek at the men standing outside. She didn’t think they looked like employees of the hotel at all, considering they were only dressed in t-shirts and jeans.
Josie’s stepdad is a police officer, and he always taught her to never let people know when you are home alone.
Josie thought quickly and pretended to call out to her dad. “Hey dad, there’s someone here to fix the door,” Josie yelled back into her room.
The two men started running away as soon as they heard Josie say those words. She spent the next half hour in the room waiting for her family to return, as her cellphone had no service.
Josie shared her series of videos on TikTok to help prevent this situation from happening to anyone else.
She wisely encourages anyone staying in a hotel room to always put the deadbolt on the back of the door and use a doorstopper.
