Her Friend Had A Meltdown At Her Wedding And Then One Of Her Caterers Called An Ambulance
When This Woman Got Married, She Had A Big Wedding
A 33-year-old woman tied the knot two years ago, and her wedding was on the larger side. She had 150 people there for her wedding, and she saved alongside her husband for multiple years in order to be able to have their dream wedding.
Her Friend Ruth Was There, And They Met At Work
One of her friends who was in attendance that day is named Ruth, and she’s been friends with Ruth for around 5 years. They initially met at work, and even after Ruth took a job somewhere else, they stayed friends.
Ruth Has Been Diagnosed With Autism And A Personality Disorder
“When we worked together, she had just received a diagnosis of autism plus a personality disorder and was able to function without a lot of accommodations,” she explained.
Ruth Has Landed In The Hospital Multiple Times
“Things changed in later years, though. She began to really struggle with overstimulation and scary internal thoughts. She was hospitalized several times. Eventually, she found stable employment but still has flare-ups of psychiatric issues from time to time.”
She Was Scared To Abandon Ruth
“I’m not gonna lie, at times it has felt like our friendship is very one-sided with me taking care of her a lot — but she doesn’t have many other friends in her life even though she’s a genuinely kind and caring person. So I didn’t want to abandon her.”
Prior To Her Wedding, She Made Sure To Speak To Ruth
Leading up to her wedding, she made sure Ruth knew exactly what she was getting herself into by being a guest.
She let Ruth know about how many people were coming, she let Ruth know she was getting a DJ, she let Ruth know there would be alcoholic drinks…she did everything she could to make sure nothing was a surprise.
She Let Ruth Know It Was Alright To Skip The Wedding
She even said to Ruth that it would be alright for her to skip out on coming to her wedding if it all seemed like too much.
She knew in her heart that Ruth would struggle in the environment of her wedding day, and despite giving her multiple chances to bow out as a guest, Ruth was determined to be there.
Things Were Worse Than She Imagined On Her Wedding Day
“Well…things did not go well,” she said. “Ruth handled the ceremony, ok but as soon as dinner and dancing started, she hyperventilated and had a meltdown.”
One Of Her Caterers Called An Ambulance
“One of the caterers called an ambulance. The ambulance came, the paramedics attended to Ruth, and she ended up getting dropped off at home by a friend.”
She Was So Angry Ruth Stole Her Spotlight
“I feel so guilty and ashamed to admit I was extremely angry with Ruth. Her incident was basically the spotlight/center of my wedding reception.”
Ruth Left, But Her Guests Were Distraught
Although Ruth exited the wedding, her guests were so distraught by what had just happened that they couldn’t bring themselves to enjoy the remainder of the wedding.
Ruth Then Accused Her Of Not Helping In Her Time Of Need
After her day was ruined, she did reach out to Ruth, who accused her of not helping her at all in her time of need.
She was shocked that Ruth was so accusatory since it was her wedding day and it’s not like her job was to babysit Ruth.
She Apologized To Ruth
She apologized to Ruth and acknowledged that there was no way she could have attended to her while her wedding was going on. Even though it’s now been two years since she got married, her relationship with Ruth has been tainted.
Things between them are strained, and she’s positive it’s because Ruth somehow feels let down by her for what happened at the wedding.
