Redditors were initially split on their judgment but ultimately came down in favor of the small business owner.

One commenter weighed in, “As much as I’m with you, it would be great to help Linda out, but she is stealing from you. You’ve been awesome so far, letting your employees eat what was left at the end of the night.” He even added that Linda was “taking advantage” of her manager’s generosity.

Another user empathized with the plight of someone trying to keep a business afloat. “Most restaurants have a very narrow profit margin, and if everyone kept doing this you could very quickly permanently damage the business.”

Though the situation caused tension with the restaurant owner’s wife, it appeared that there was no other way to address the sticky situation.
