A 25-Year-Old Indiana Resident Sustained Severe Injuries After Heroically Saving 5 Children From A House Fire

“He frantically searched the rooms, even looking under the beds, but it was to no avail– he could not find the child,” the Department explained.

And just as Bostic went to venture downstairs, a massive cloud of smoke prevented him. At that moment, he miraculously heard the sound of a child’s cry from the home’s lower level.

Bostic took off his shirt and wrapped it around his mouth and nose to protect against the smoke. Then, he went through the flames in search of the girl.

Eventually, Bostic located her. But, with the fire quickly gaining momentum, he could no longer reach the back door.

So, he picked up the child, ran upstairs, and located a second-story window.

“He jumped from the window, ensuring he landed on the side where he was not holding the child. He picked himself up off the ground and carried the girl to safety,” the Department said.

Miraculously, all of the children sustained little to no injuries. Bostic, though, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Eskenazi Hospital.

The press release detailing Bostic’s heroic efforts and recently released body cam footage showing a portion of the rescue have blown away the Indiana community.

The young man’s selflessness and courage will now be recognized by the Lafayette Police Department, the Lafayette Fire Department, and Mayor Tony Roswarski during the Aviators game on August 2.

And while Bostic is now in stable condition, his family and friends are asking the community to help cover his medical costs through a GoFundMe campaign.

Since word of Bostic’s heroism has spread throughout the country, his fundraiser has surpassed its initial goal of fifty thousand dollars.
