Her Dream Is To Help Horses In Need, And Now She’s Trying To Raise Money To Save These 3 Pregnant Mustang Mares
Growing up, I always loved going on long drives with my family and looking at the farms of rural Southern Wisconsin. The cows, sheep, horses, and other farm animals that populate the countryside. Just watching the beautiful creatures run across the prairies and cool off in the local spring and rivers. It’s one of the reasons I love the area I live in so much.
One fellow animal lover has made it her life’s work to help those animals, specifically horses. Morgan Ryan has slowly been working to make her dream a reality.
“My dream has always been to rescue and rehabilitate horses who have fallen on hard times and into the wrong hands,” Morgan wrote on a GoFundMe page.
“For the past year, I have slowly been able to work into my dream, of building a facility to accommodate untouched horses, sick horses, tired horses, old horses, and horses that just need a new start in life.”
“Working with mustangs has also become a passion of mine. Whether wild and fresh off the range or just needing that extra helping hand to make them loved members of the family, I love being able to assist in the transitions into useful members of the equine community.”
To have such passion for your livelihood is a unique thing to have, and to be able to help animals in need is an admiral thing.
Caring for such beautiful animals is quite costly, though. Normally, she wouldn’t ask for help, but she is in desperate need of help to get 3 mustang mares from Oklahoma to Colorado.
“Three seemingly pregnant BLM mustang mares showed up at a Kill Pen in Oklahoma together,” Morgan said.

“Whatever your thoughts might be on kill pens, these three mares didn’t deserve their intended fate. Young, scared, unhandled, and looking like they were in foal, these three girls were failed by the adopter that dumped them in a situation that, in many cases, has a horrible end. Drawn to these girls, I hoped to be able to find a way to get them out of there…”
A wonderful person actually helped her with the girls. They paid the fee to free the mustangs, and they didn’t ask for anything in return. Now, this is just the beginning of the journey that these beautiful girls have to go on until they get to Colorado.
“These three ladies and their possible unborn foals need to go through quarantine, be vetted, hauled to Colorado, and then begin their rehabilitation processes,” Morgan continued.
“I rarely ask for financial assistance, but these three girls deserve to be given every opportunity to be healthy, happy, and raise the foals that they are carrying without having to fight for their health and safety. Funds will go directly to their care, feed, and rehabilitation.”
On September 29th, there was an update that girls were headed to a safe haven in Kansas to start their quarantine. They are staying there until they are given a healthy stamp of approval. What that entails is they don’t show any signs of sicknesses that could be transmitted to other horses.
Another update was shared on October 7th. Morgan was thanking everyone that had helped and been so supportive in her journey to help these three beautiful mares. She is currently working to find transportation for the mares on the final leg of the journey to Colorado. The likely arrival date for them is around the 20th of October. All of this was started because of the passion and love Morgan has for the horses she cares for. And so many people have shown love and support by helping these amazing animals.
