Her Husband’s Ex-Wife Cut Her Stepdaughter’s Hair Off As A Punishment, And Now She Has No Idea What To Do About Visitation
This twenty-seven-year-old woman and her husband, who is thirty-five, are currently expecting their first child together. But, she is already a stepmother to her husband’s twelve-year-old daughter, Evie, who he had with his ex-wife.
And even though she loves Evie like her own and has been caring for Evie as such for years, her husband’s ex is apparently a nightmare to deal with.
For context, her husband was married to his ex for eight years before they split up. His ex was reportedly very controlling and abusive, and even the courts agreed– because now, both she and her husband have primary physical and legal custody of Evie.
So, her husband’s ex only gets to see Evie on weekends, when Evie is dropped off on Friday afternoons and picked up on Sunday mornings.
But nothing could have prepared her or her husband for what happened this past weekend when Evie was dropped off at her mother’s house.
Just two hours after she and her husband left Evie there, she and her husband received a call from her stepdaughter. Evie could barely speak, was hysterically crying, and just showed them her hair– which was completely botched.
And it later came out that her husband’s ex had hacked away at Evie’s hair from her mid-back to her ears.
“It looked like she used a pair of dull kitchen scissors. Her ends were completely split and frayed, there were big chunks missing from certain parts, and other parts were still long,” she recalled.
Why the hell would Evie’s birth mother do that, you might ask? Well, apparently, her husband’s ex thought it would be an appropriate punishment for something that Evie did weeks ago.

While at school last month, Evie had been playing on the playground when a few boys began bullying her about her chest size. Evie’s teacher just told the boys to cut it out, but they refused to let up.
So, Evie first decided to shove one of them off of the play structure and did a similar thing to the second boy.
And while she and her husband did not support Evie’s use of violence, they were happy that she stuck up for herself. Still, they told Evie that there are better ways to handle situations like that.
Plus, when Evie ended up getting suspended from school for two days, she and her husband took that opportunity to teach her stepdaughter a lesson. They told Evie that she was not allowed to have any screen time or hang out with friends during those two days.
She believed that was a good repercussion for Evie’s actions, and Evie reportedly handled her consequences well.
However, in the weeks afterward, Evie’s mother admitted to not thinking that Evie’s punishment was enough. In fact, her husband’s ex thought that Evie should have been grounded– with no screen time, social interaction, or extracurricular activities– for an entire month.
Understandably, though, she and her husband thought that would be way too harsh for a twelve-year-old– especially because Evie was just trying to defend herself from bullying.
So, they told her husband’s ex no. And when her husband’s ex kept insisting on harsher punishments, her husband laid down the law.
“Finally, my husband told his ex that she could punish Evie the way she wanted to when she got custody of Evie,” she explained.
Unfortunately, though, she had no idea that her husband’s ex would take this vendetta so far.
Apparently, after her husband told his ex to lay off, his ex learned about a hair appointment she had made for Evie. The plan was for Evie to get a haircut and a fun dye color that weekend.
But, her husband’s ex would not stop texting her husband to cancel the hair appointment. She saw absolutely no reason to cancel it, though, since Evie had already ridden out her punishment. So, she kept the appointment.
And that’s ultimately why when Evie went to her mother’s house, her mother decided to go rogue and cut all of Evie’s hair off.
Anyway, after receiving that hysterical phone call from Evie, she was obviously infuriated. Her husband did not even let her get out of the car when they picked Evie up because he knew she would probably freak out on his ex.
Then, once Evie got into the car, her poor stepdaughter cried into her arms for a full fifteen minutes while she tried to console Evie.
“I also called the hair salon and begged them for an appointment. Thank goodness one of the girls there decided to stay hours past her schedule to fix up Evie’s hair,” she revealed.
Evie ended up getting to choose whatever hairstyle she wanted. So, her stepdaughter walked out donning a pixie cut with some fun colors added to it. And thankfully, Evie had a smile on her face by the end of it.
Regardless, though, she still spent the entire night afterward crying, thinking about what her husband’s ex had done to her stepdaughter.
She just cannot imagine how scared and hurt Evie must have felt at that moment. On top of that, she just cannot fathom ever sending Evie to her mother’s house again.
Nonetheless, she has been forced to grapple with their custody situation– because, as of now, her husband’s ex has been calling and saying that she still expects to see Evie for visitation this weekend.
“But I just don’t see how we could ever be expected to leave her there unsupervised again,” she vented.
So, she is just looking for some advice right now. Her husband’s ex is claiming that she does not understand how mothering works and that she is being “too soft” about the situation.
However, she has been taking care of Evie for years and is expecting her own child of her own, and she just cannot believe a mother would treat their daughter that way.
If you had received the same call from your stepdaughter, how would you feel? Do you think that Evie’s mother had a right to carry out that “punishment” or not? How do you suggest she deal with this situation?
