“The third night, my stepdaughter came to me and said that my daughter kicked her out of their room,” he explained.
“I went to talk to my daughter, and she said she hated sharing a room and wanted my stepdaughter gone. I know it sounds mean, but she’s never had to share a room before, and she’s still adjusting.”
Instead of scolding his daughter or making her share, he asked his stepdaughter if she would sleep on the couch or with her aunt for the rest of the trip because his daughter needed space.
His stepdaughter started to cry, and his sister-in-law and wife found out. They were livid and yelled at him for kicking his stepdaughter out of the room. They told him that his daughter should’ve been the one to leave if she didn’t want to share.
He kept defending his daughter, saying she was not used to sharing her bed. He thought his stepdaughter would be fine with leaving the room because she’s used to sharing a bed after sleeping with his wife on a pull-out couch for five years before she married him.
“My wife started yelling at me for favoring my daughter,” he said. “She and my sister-in-law ended up leaving early with my stepdaughter. They’ve all ignored me and my kids since we got back.”
He thinks what he did over the vacation was so bad that his wife is considering leaving him. Although she hasn’t said anything about leaving, he’s noticed that she and her sister have gone back to work to start saving money.
Was he wrong for kicking his stepdaughter out of the shared room?
