She Was The First Woman To Be Awarded The Nobel Peace Prize After Starting Out As Alfred Nobel’s Housekeeper And Secretary

Die Waffen nieder! was published in 12 languages, and there were 37 editions. It became so popular that it led Bertha to become a significant figure in the peace movement.

She used her popularity to contribute to many pacifist organizations that promoted peace.

She was the founder and chairwoman of the German Peace Society and attended many peace meetings. During this time, she continued to write novels.

In 1904, Bertha took a tour of the United States, where she spoke and promoted international peace. One year later, she became the first woman ever awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in trying to create an international order based on peace instead of war.

Throughout her later years, she continued to advocate for peace and campaigned in multiple countries. During her final months, she contributed to the Peace Conference, which was intended to take place in September 1914.

She passed away at the age of 71 in June of that year. The conference never happened due to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and the start of WWI.

Bertha’s story is certainly an inspiring one, as she was a woman who worked hard and used her talents to promote and fight for what she believed in.
