“Most of the money my parents made was going to bills, rent, and car payments.”
She’s been desperate to be independent of her family and live her own life, and now she has her chance. She recently got into a great college and was awarded a massive scholarship that almost covers all of her tuition costs.
However, the college is in another state, and when she told her family she was planning to go, they were furious. They asked her why she thought she could suddenly move away and leave Mary to take care of her baby alone. She told them she didn’t think it was fair to spend her college years in a bedroom with her sister and niece.
Then, Mary jumped into the argument and said if the roles were reversed, she wouldn’t move away and leave her alone to raise a baby.
“I said she isn’t alone; our parents are here,” she recalled.
However, Mary said that since both of their parents work, she technically would be left alone to raise the baby. Do you think she’s being selfish for wanting to move away from her family, or should she get out of there while she can?
