In 1995, Dolly started The Imagination Library, a book gifting program for children. The program began by donating books to children in the United States, but by the early 2000s, it started going international and partnered with countries like Canada, Ireland, and Australia. As of this year, The Imagination Library has donated over 200 million books to children worldwide.
Not only does Dolly want the best for the children of America, but for the country as a whole. When the Vanderbilt University Medical Center began working with Moderna to develop a vaccine for COVID-19, Dolly donated $1 million to their research, helping the process in a critical moment.
While Dolly has done more than most people can do throughout their lifetimes, she’s still chugging along as a global superstar at 77 years old. She is getting ready to release a new album titled “Rockstar” in November of this year and is still living her best life in her home state of Tennessee with her husband, Carl.
Thanks for all you do, Dolly! We will always love you.
