She’s Refusing To Take Down A 1-Star Review Of Her Former Boss’ Business After He Sold Her A Manufactured Home With Major Issues And Never Responded To Fix The Problems

This 32-year-old woman and her boyfriend, also 32, recently purchased their first home together.
They chose to buy a brand-new manufactured home, and rather than researching numerous companies, they made the decision to go with a company that her former boss was currently working for.
More than a decade ago, her former boss had been the general manager (GM) at a restaurant where they both worked.
For several years, her former boss had been selling manufactured homes, so she had faith and trust in him.
The process of buying their home and closing on it went smoothly.
“He tried helping us find land as well. We closed on the home in April and moved in mid-June after setting up water, electricity, and septic. We left a 5-star review for my old GM, as requested. After we moved in and scoped out defects in the home, we compiled the list and emailed it to their service person as requested,” she said.
However, her former GM never replied to their emails about the issues in their home. She learned that later on, he had been fired from the company.
Then, she and her boyfriend discovered a bathroom leak, and they sent an email to the company, as well as her former GM. But no one came to fix it.
As time passed, one of the walls in their home started to turn brown, and they informed the company they’d worked with once more.

“We eventually found another leak in the other bathroom. I was so angry that our new home was already damaged. I changed the review to a 1-star, with a photo of the brown wall, stating that messages don’t get returned and leaks aren’t considered urgent to them,” she explained.
In her review, she didn’t talk about her former GM at all. However, her former GM saw her review, and he was personally offended by it.
He sent her a message and told her that leaving this type of public review was unfair to him and the company he’d worked for.
He claimed that there was no response from the company in regard to her emails about issues with the home because of an employee that the company eventually fired.
Her former GM continued his message, saying that the experience she had was not indicative of the company as a whole.
Then, he assured her that he put in a lot of effort in order to track down land for their home when he could have been spending all that time with his family instead.
After that, he ended the message by reminding her that employees for this company do this work to support their families, and negative reviews could financially hurt them.
“I told him I’d delete the review once the damage is fixed, and we receive invoices we’d been asking for with no response. We found our own land, by the way. He helped us by sending links of land from Realtor.com, as well as checking out a piece of land with us, which took maybe 15 minutes of his time,” she shared.
A couple of weeks after her former GM sent her the first message, he sent another one.
He told her that it was too bad that he put in the extra effort for her and her boyfriend, only to get a negative review for the company he’d worked for.
In addition, he said that the “‘crime doesn’t fit the punishment.'” He pointed out that negative reviews harm employees who are just trying to make a living, even more so when all the employees at the company are affected by something that they hadn’t done on purpose.
From her perspective, she believed that her former GM was attempting to gaslight her into changing her review. But she didn’t understand why she would do this when the issues hadn’t yet been resolved.
Plus, she and her boyfriend still haven’t received the invoices that they requested nearly a month ago, and they haven’t heard an update on when they should expect to receive them.
