She Left Her Kids With Her Sister, But Had To Hire A Babysitter When Her Sister Broke Her “No Violence Rule”

This 30-year-old woman and her boyfriend, who is 36, have two children together– a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.
They also decided to go away on a couples vacation recently, which is why she left her kids with her 26-year-old sister and her brother-in-law, who is 27.
Now, her sister and brother-in-law have watched her children before, and she claimed that they’ve always been “excellent.”
“We have set out rules for them, such as they cannot attend church with them and no violent movies or anything with violence. But like I’ve said, they have been good about following the rules,” she explained.
Just yesterday, though, she asked her sister to forward some photos of the children, and she received a bunch of cute images.
Some of them showed her kids watching TV or eating dinner, which was fine. But, the last 12 pictures were of her children “playing around a bomber plane.”
For some context, her brother-in-law is actually a test pilot for the Air Force. During test flights, he flies and chases other planes.
So, while watching her kids, her brother-in-law arranged for them to get to go on the runway and walk around a ton of aircraft.
“I got photos of the kids standing around them and one photo of my son inside of one,” she recalled.

“My sister also mentioned via text attached to the photos that my kids had gotten to see a few of the new bomber planes and even saw it fly for the first time but wasn’t allowed to photograph them with it.”
Now, to be clear, her sister and brother-in-law are always “instructed” to let the kids have fun. That’s why they aren’t expected to ask her every time they take the kids to the park or go see a movie.
However, she wants all activities to “fall within her rules,” and she feels like going to see the planes is a strict violation of her “no violence” rule.
That’s why, right after seeing the photos, she actually hired a babysitter to take over caring for the kids instead of her sister!
“And I told my sister to take my kids back to our house and leave them with the babysitter,” she revealed.
At that point, her sister accused her of being ridiculous and claimed it was not a violent experience whatsoever. Her sister also pointed out how her kids absolutely loved seeing the planes, and her brother-in-law had to “pull a lot of strings” in order to even make that happen.
Regardless, she didn’t budge on her decision, and her kids have been with the babysitter ever since. She and her boyfriend are also still away on their couple’s vacation and aren’t sure if they should cut the trip short to head home.
On top of that, she’s been getting pushback from both her sister and her mom– who accused her of acting like a jerk to both her sister and her kids for hiring the babysitter. So, she’s now been left wondering if removing her kids from her sister’s care and hiring a babysitter because she felt like her “rules were broken” was really the wrong thing to do.
Does it sound like her sister was explicitly trying to “break” her rules or not? Do you think she overreacted by calling in a babysitter? What would you have done in this situation?
