Several years ago, this woman’s brother married a woman named Shelly.

Unfortunately, she can’t stand Shelly, who constantly makes insensitive remarks and claims that she’s just being honest when she receives pushback from other people.

In Shelly’s view, there isn’t anything wrong with making rude comments as long as the comments are truthful.

Her mother also despises Shelly, so much so that she refuses to attend family gatherings that she knows Shelly will be present for.

One year ago, she moved back to her hometown, and she hadn’t yet met Shelly up until this point.

“I thought people were just being rude to her or overblowing the things she says. I was wrong,” she said.

During their first interaction together, when they were introduced, Shelly told her that the clothes she was wearing looked horrible on her.

On another occasion, she bought a bubble gun for a 5-year-old’s birthday that the family had gathered to celebrate, and Shelly told her that she was “cheap” for the gift she chose to buy.

From there, Shelly’s horrible remarks only continued.

“I talked to my brother, and he told me she is autistic, and she can’t help it,” she explained.

After the discussion with her brother, she had a talk with Shelly and made it clear to her that she would not tolerate any more insensitive comments from her.

Not long ago, she invited her family to her son’s third birthday party.

If she had it her way, she wouldn’t have invited Shelly, but she didn’t want to cause drama, so she invited Shelly to the party.

Not long after arriving, Shelly made a disrespectful remark about the decor in her home.

Immediately, she made sure to point out to Shelly that her comment was mean and to stop it.

Later, the family was eating birthday cake.

She gave a piece of cake to her son, and Shelly said that she shouldn’t allow him to eat the cake because he “looks fat.”

Understandably, this comment was more than she could handle, and she told Shelly to say sorry for her rudeness.

However, Shelly refused, claiming that she was just being honest.

“I told her that she is overweight, that if she took care of herself more, she wouldn’t be fat, that this was the truth, and she is rotten on the inside, and her looks are just as bad,” she shared.

Once she said this, Shelly burst into tears and left the party.

Now, her brother is furious and has called her some awful names.

People she’s consulted for advice are divided on whether or not she should say sorry to Shelly.

Do you think she was out of line for what she said to Shelly?
