In Pompeii, Archaeologists Found A Painting Of A Pizza On The Crumbling Wall Of An Old House

The director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, named Gabriel Zuchtriegel, stated that the painting highlights the juxtaposition of a “frugal and simple meal” and the “luxury of silver trays.”

“How can we fail to think, in this regard, of pizza, also born as a ‘poor’ dish in southern Italy, which has now conquered the world and is also served in star restaurants,” added Zuchtriegel.

The excavations also revealed the atrium of a house with a section that included a bakery. Near the oven, three skeletons were found.
