She Was Recently In Her Friend’s Wedding
A woman who was recently part of her friend’s wedding admits she started being downright rude before leaving early for this reason.
The Wedding Was Held Outside, And There Plenty Of Room
It was an outdoor wedding with a lot of room, but she was somehow the only single person there who was not given a plus one.
She Was The Only Person Not Given A Plus-One
That’s right; every other member of the wedding party and every guest that was there was able to bring their significant other…except her.
She Was Told Her Relationship Wasn’t Serious Enough
“I was told it was because my relationship wasn’t “serious” enough despite us being together for a year,” she said.
Only Married Or Engaged Couples Were Allowed
“That only engaged or married couples were invited. And that they didn’t want “some random guy” in their wedding pictures who “I might not even be with” later in the future.”
Her Boyfriend Wouldn’t Have Been In The Wedding Photos
The thing is, though, her boyfriend would not have been in any of the photos of the wedding party. He maybe would have been seen in the background of the wedding reception.
Her Boyfriend Is Really Likeable
Her boyfriend has never had a problem with the married couple, and on top of this, he’s a very kind and even keel kind of guy.
So She Can’t Understand Why He Was Excluded
He gets along with everyone that he meets, so she can’t imagine why he wasn’t invited to this wedding that she was a part of.
When She Got To The Ceremony, She Saw She Was The Only Person Not Given A Plus-One
“I get to the ceremony and find out that literally everyone else has a +1, not just married couples, but there are couples there who have been dating for less time than me,” she continued.
She Started To Grow Angry
At this point, although she’s smiling through the entire ceremony, her anger is welling up inside of her.
Then, She Got To The Reception, And It Was Clear Everyone Had A Plus-One
It all wrapped up, and she headed to the reception…where there were loads more people. Every single person at the reception at a plus one.
She Was Surrounded By Couples
At the table she was sitting at, she was the only person there alone, and all the other people at her table were there as couples.
Some People Asked Where Her Boyfriend Was
Some of the guests naturally started asking her why her boyfriend was not at the wedding. She had no choice but to reply that he was not invited, and she had no idea why that was.
She Started Intentionally Acting Rude And Mean
She stopped trying to hide how upset she was, and instead, she began acting downright rude and mean on purpose.
She Was Humiliated
She felt utterly humiliated to be the only one alone there. Next, some of the wedding guests involved her in a conversation with a man named Dean. Dean is friends with the married couple.
A Guy Who Has A Crush On Her Was Also At The Wedding Alone
“I was previously told that Dean has a crush on me, and I made it clear I wouldn’t be interested even if I were single,” she explained.
Dean didn’t take no for an answer, and he sent her a few messages, to which she never replied.
“But now the people who “brought me into conversation” with Dean were like standing around staring at us and giggling behind their hands. Like they thought they were Cupid matchmakers. Dean was absolutely a participant in this.”
She Was So Mean To This Guy
“I was meaner to Dean than I’ve ever been to anyone in my entire life. I was as fully rude as I’ve ever wanted to be when being the target of someone’s romantic interest unwantedly.”
She thinks perhaps this was all a setup, so she stormed back to her table, ate the rest of her dinner, and left the wedding.
She Left The Wedding Early
She missed basically the whole reception. She missed the cutting of the cake. She missed the speeches.
The Couple Is Now Angry With Her
The couple had the nerve to reach out to her to say that they are upset that she left their wedding early, and they can’t understand why.
How would you deal with this?
