Reya’s only hope is moving from Virginia to Houston, Texas, to receive a lung transplant at just 4-months-old.
“The best place to receive a lung transplant for someone my age (4 months!) is in…wait for it….Houston, Texas,” a GoFundMe page created for Reya and written from her perspective says.
“I know, I’ll be a southern belle in no time. They perform 3-4 infant lung transplants per year and I am hoping to be one of them.”

Reya’s parents, Nithya and Tim, are going to be uprooting their lives to make the move with her.
While Time is able to work from home and keep his job in a new state, Reya’s mom Nithya works as a pediatric emergency room nurse and now has to quit her job.
“The last thing I want my parents worrying about while we’re all going through this is their financial security,” Reya’s GoFundMe page reads.
“People always say raising a child takes a village and that has never been more true than right now. My parents might be physically far away from our extended families and friends back home but that doesn’t mean they are unsupported.”
Any money raised will go towards helping cover the costs of Reya’s surgery and medications, as well as towards food, transportation, and a new house for her and her family.
