Minneapolis, Minnesota. Monique Baugh was a 28-year-old mom of two young daughters; a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old.
She worked as a realtor for Kris Lindahl Real Estate and lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her boyfriend.
Monique’s family describes her as a hard-working mom whose world revolved around her baby girls.

This young mom really made a lasting impression on everyone that she encountered. Monique was kind, she was driven, she was compassionate, she was full of joy.
She had a cute Hello Kitty tattoo on her shoulder. She loved her little girls, and she always put them first.
Sadly, Monique’s life was tragically cut short on New Year’s Eve; what should have been a day of celebration and excitement.
On New Year’s Eve, 2019, Monique was scheduled to show a home to a prospective client in the Maple Grove area.
Usually, Monique’s appointments were made directly with the real estate company she works for. However, this appointment was different.

This client reached out to Monique directly.

A security camera located directly across the street from the house Monique was showing caught her on tape as she arrived.
Then, a U-Haul drives past the house and down the street. After the U-Haul passes by, someone is seen approaching the home, opening the door, and going inside.

The U-Haul can be seen on the video footage driving back up to the home Monique was showing. The driver of the truck proceeds to back it into the driveway and stop it in front of the doors to the home’s garage.
And then something sickening happens. Monique is forced out of the home and the U-Haul. The driver then takes off out of the driveway with Monique still in the back of it.
Monique had been kidnapped from her own house showing.
Who on earth would have something against this well-liked mom and real estate agent? Well, here’s where things start to get strange.
Just less than an hour before Monique was kidnapped, her boyfriend called 911. Was it a coincidence Monique’s boyfriend had called 911 just before she was kidnapped, or was it something more sinister?
Monique’s boyfriend, who goes by the name Momoh, called 911 the same night Monique was kidnapped to report a shooting.
Momoh had been home with their two young daughters when someone in a mask burst through the front door using a key.
The masked intruder had a gun with him, and he pointed it at Momoh. The intruder was wearing a mask, so Momoh didn’t know who it was.
The intruder shot Momoh several times in his torso as he ran up the stairs of the couple’s home screaming.
Momoh was treated for his injuries and survived, and the couple’s daughters were thankfully not harmed in the shooting.
The police quickly connected the shooting to Monique, and here’s how they did that.
That key the intruder used to enter Monique and Momoh’s home? Monique’s grandmother, who had rushed to their home to help care for the girls after hearing of the shooting, told the police that was Monique’s key.
Momoh told the police he knew Monique had left to go show the Maple Grove house to a client, and that this client called her own personal phone to get in touch with her.
He went on to say he didn’t think there was any way that Monique’s new client would know where he and Monique lived though.
Police rushed to the home Monique was showing in Maple Grove.

It was around this time that ShotSpotter technology picked up on gunshots coming from an alley close to the home Monique was showing.
Side note: ShotSpotter technology is really cool and consists of AI, sensors, and algorithms to alert and locate gunshots in specific areas.
When the police got to the alleyway where the gunshots had come from, they found Monique.

Monique’s hands were taped together. She had been shot point-blank in her face and also in her torso.
People who had heard the gunshots told the police they saw that U-Haul driving in the alleyway. Investigators set to work hunting down the U-Haul, and it wasn’t long before they found it.
Inside of the U-Haul, there was duct tape, zip ties, and press on nails…
…The exact same nails that had been found inside of Monique’s home.

The next step for investigators was to figure out who had last rented the truck, and when they found that person, they were closer to finding Monique’s killer.
The renter said they traded the truck to 41-year-old Cedric Berry, in exchange for drugs. Cedric is an alleged gang member with a long-standing criminal history.
In February of last year, Cedric Berry and another man named Berry Davis were both indicted by a grand jury for the premeditated murder of Monique.
On June 4th of this year, Cedric and Berry were both convicted of murdering Monique and were also found guilty of kidnapping and attempted murder.
Cedric and Berry will spend the rest of their lives behind bars, without the possibility of parole.
A GoFundMe has been created to help care for Monique’s daughters, and the money is going directly to her grandma.
