Just before Karen passed away, he had started to see her again frequently and things in their lives were on their way “back to normal.”
The very last time that Erik got to see Karen, he took her to a local park on a bike ride. The sun was out that day and Karen was so delighted she clapped and laughed.
“When we stopped by the lake for picnic lunch, Karen said “Mom, mom,” Eric wrote.
“I held her and told her “mom is not here anymore”. Karen totally out of the norm put her head on my shoulder and tears ran down her cheek. Yes, she understood.”
Erik and Karen’s mom passed away a few months ago in May of this year, and their dad passed away back in 2007.
“Two weeks later she passed away; I think she really wanted to be with mom,” Erik continued.
“Karen, I wish I could have made you laugh one more time. I needed you too. Love your brother Erik.”
