“I guess I can understand her parents. They, people of immense net worth, have to worry about men only wanting to marry their daughter for their wealth,” the man conceded.
Still, even after suggesting options like prenups or trusts, the woman’s father was not convinced.
Ultimately, this man does not feel like his love is worth the lifestyle that his girlfriend would be sacrificing.
“She enjoys and is used to this lifestyle of never having to worry about money and getting whatever she likes. I do not think I will ever get to a point in my life where I can provide this for her,” the man said.
He also admitted to hoping that she would choose the money over him for a very selfless reason.
“I love her so much that I would rather her continue to have a life of peace than to be with me,” the man continued.
“It would kill me to lose her. But, at least I could be happy to know that she can continue enjoying a ‘princess’ lifestyle.”
While this couple’s story may sound like the fictional Capulets and Montagues of Romeo and Juliet, their struggle is genuine.
