She Showed Her Friend Her Prom Dress, And Then Her Friend Went Out And Bought The Exact Same One So She’s Not Happy That They’re Going To Match

“She also said the idea of copying me wasn’t even on her mind, she just genuinely liked the dress and didn’t see a problem because our school is massive so duplicates of dresses are already common,” she explained.

“I honestly didn’t know how to react that day, but later the topic came up again and I told her that the situation felt weird and that I would prefer for us to not wear the same dress.”

“I asked if she could return her dress, or save it for another dance and re-wear one of her previous dresses since I already had alterations done on mine.”

“I offered to help her to pick out another one in the same color and style if she wanted a new dress, but she said there’s no point because any dress she chooses would end up resembling my dress anyway.”

She did her best to clue her friend in on her feelings, but her friend didn’t care that it made her upset that she had the same prom dress.

She felt that it wasn’t that nice or fair of her friend to have gone out and bought the same exact dress after she had shown it to her.

“The news kind of circulated, and now a lot of other students and parents know me as shallow for wanting to be “unique” above all else, which again isn’t the case, but like my friend, I also can’t get through to them,” she said.

“My parents think my friend is being immature, but also say I shouldn’t care so much about a school dance and I should just humor her because it’s not that serious.”

She’s curious if she’s making this into a bigger deal than it actually is, and she’s concerned that this conflict over the dress is going to ruin her friendship with her friend as well as other relationships in her life.

Do you think she has every right to be upset that her friend went out and bought the same prom dress as her? You can read the original post on Reddit here.
