“It Was Challenging To Hear The Woman”: Officials Now Report That The Unidentified Voice Of A Victim In The 2021 Surfside Condo Collapse Was 38-Year-Old Theresa Velasquez

Unfortunately, Velasquez was not rescued in time. First responders were unable to clear the immense amount of debris in order to reach her.

Velasquez’s remains were finally recovered on July 8, about two weeks after the collapse, according to the report. And sadly, both her parents– Angela and Julio– also passed away in the disaster.

Velasquez’s brother, David, lost three family members due to the tragedy that day. Still, he has decided to accept the findings of his sister’s investigation.

“There is no way to know one hundred percent. But, it seems like the logical conclusion,” David said.

In addition to the report providing some form of closure for the Velasquez family, attorneys have also recently announced that the families of both victims and survivors would be entitled to a nearly one billion dollar settlement.

The final step needed is approval by Miami-Dade County Circuit Court Judge Michael Hanzman.

Nonetheless, the families of victims, survivors, and members of the entire Surfside community will continue to mourn the tragic loss of friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
