Despite the series being very comical, Becky is a seriously talented musician and writes her own melodies for most of the videos.
She may be singing about some wild stuff in her Tinder message series, but she has a fantastic voice and excellent songwriting abilities!
In an interview with Buzzfeed News, Becky said, “If the songs were terrible and I hadn’t really thought about structure … I don’t think that they’d be having as much impact as they are having.”
The songs are certainly having an impact, and also creating a safe space for those who may have received some of those uncomfortable and out-of-pocket messages.
It has gotten to the point where some TikTok users will comment on Becky’s videos, asking if they can send her some of their awful Tinder messages to use for a ballad, to which she replies with, “Yeah!”
Becky’s Tinder ballad videos continue to generate thousands of views and likes over a year later, and we love the solidarity they radiate.
