“If anybody is choking or is in danger, you always have to save them. If you don’t, then that could be really sad,” David told FOX News in an interview.
Following the incident, David’s classmate was evaluated and cleared by the school nurse. Now, David has been recognized for his courage and refusal to be a bystander.

They presented him with a New York State Senate Commendation Award.
Senator Akshar also shared David’s story on his personal Facebook page.
“David is a true community hero who has made his family, his school, and his community very proud!’ said Senator Akshar.
