He Wanted To Pay For His Biological And Adopted Children’s College Educations Equally, But His Wife Is Totally Against It

Sixteen years ago, this forty-four-year-old man and his wife, Ami, welcomed their biological son Ethan into the world.

Then, he and Ami went on to adopt two more children six years later– Aiden, who is now sixteen, and Gracie, who is twelve.

And apparently, the adoption was actually Ami’s idea. Aiden and Gracie had been the children of Ami’s cousin– who was going to lose custody. So, Ami asked him if they could adopt the kids, and he was all for it.

Anyway, now that both of his boys are sixteen, they have begun talking about colleges a lot. Ethan and Aiden are very close and want to stay together at whatever university they end up going to.

Thankfully, he is also prepared to support all three of his children’s college educations because he began saving up years ago– which really started after his mother passed away and left him a considerable inheritance.

“I used the inheritance to fund their accounts as I thought this was more important than paying off our mortgage that we are comfortable paying each month,” he explained.

As talks of college ramped up in his household, though, he noticed that Ami was becoming increasingly upset about how much money they were going to spend on the children’s education.

Then, after talking to Ami about her concerns, he and his wife actually plunged into a full-fledged argument. Moreover, he learned his wife’s true colors.

Apparently, Ami has no problem funding Ethan’s entire college tuition. For Aiden and Gracie, though, she only wants to pay a part of it and keep the rest of his inheritance money for themselves.

Obviously, though, he was appalled and told his wife that DNA should not play a role in the decision.

“I told Ami that was not fair since they are all our kids, not just Ethan. Ethan doesn’t mean more just because he has our DNA,” he explained.

He also told Ami that the inheritance was his. So, he could do whatever he wants with it, and his primary goal is to make sure that all three kids get the opportunity to go to school. Still, though, Ami just did not get it. She claimed that she deserved stuff, too, and said that by spending the inheritance money on their kids, she would not get what she wanted in life.

Then, his wife even had the nerve to actually leave a few days ago and go stay at her sister’s house. She also has not called to speak to him or the kids ever since. The worst part about this entire situation, though, is that the kids apparently heard the entire fight. So, just yesterday, Aiden actually came downstairs and apologized to him for causing problems.

Aiden also felt grateful that he stood up for the kids– which broke his heart.

“My heart went out to Aiden, and I said that I would always stand up for him and that I loved him and Gracie,” he recalled.

Now, though, he is just at a total loss about what to do in his marriage. He is not sure if Ami’s refusal to financially support all three kids equally is grounds for a separation or if he is somehow a jerk for wanting to fund Aiden and Gracie’s educations, too.

What do you think this entire argument says about Ami as a mother? Don’t all three children deserve to be treated equally– regardless of blood relation? If you were in his shoes, what would you do about this situation?
