Her Boyfriend Only Got Her A Pair Of Scissors For Christmas, And Then His Entire Rich Family Got Her Some Cheap Things So She’s Feeling Embarrassed
A 26-year-old woman has been in a relationship with her 27-year-old boyfriend for the last 4 years, and she has spent every single Christmas with him and his family so far since her family doesn’t celebrate the holiday.
Speaking of her family, she doesn’t have the best relationship with them, so it has always meant a lot to her to be able to be around her boyfriend’s family, as they are inspiring and wonderful people who have been super nice to her over the years.
For her birthdays and Christmases celebrated with her boyfriend’s family previously, they always got her thoughtful and amazing gifts.
That was, until this year.
This Christmas, she spent it with her boyfriend’s parents, her boyfriend’s aunt and uncle, her boyfriend’s cousin David, and his cousin’s girlfriend Amanda.
She was so excited to spend Christmas with her boyfriend’s family this year, and she tried her best to pick out nice presents for everyone.
When she got to her boyfriend’s family’s house, she realized they all had purchased far more presents for each other than they did for her.
“I’ve got 4 presents in total from 8 people, which I thought was fine until I looked around and saw that everyone got at least 10 presents,” she explained.
“In the end, I received a scented candle which you can buy at the dollar store, from BF’s uncle and his wife, a lime squeezer from David and Amanda, none from my bf’s dad, and a frying pan and earrings from his mother.”
“And the worst gift of all time was from my BF. I got a pair of scissors. “Special” ones since they are for “tailors.” The thing is, I already have a pair of scissors for fabric since I occasionally sew.”
As she opened up her gifts, she couldn’t even bring herself to fake liking them at all.
“So now here I am, salty AF and embarrassed over the gifts I got since we started to compare our gifts and ask what everyone got,” she said.
“There were a lot of clothes, gifts, fancy wine bottles, kitchen appliances, jewelry, slippers, home decor stuff.”
She has gotten to know her boyfriend’s family for years now, and she has no idea why they got her such awful and cheap things this year when they never did in the past.
It had her feeling like she didn’t belong and that she was not welcome in the least at Christmas.
When she did let her boyfriend know that she was really disappointed in the scissors he got her, he boasted that they cost him $90, so he was surprised she was upset.
“So here I am stuck in their family home over the week and being cold against my bf, and I don’t know if I should tell him how I feel or how to just move past this,” she continued.
She certainly feels like her boyfriend’s family isn’t fond of her, and she just feels like this is an awful Christmas because of what has gone down so far.
