After that experience, she did not go back to therapy until her mom died. The second time around was completely different. This time, Lexi saw a female therapist who held sessions in her townhouse in Brooklyn. She was very spiritual and placed an emphasis on breathing techniques.
Lexi went to her four times and enjoyed the first two to three sessions. But when Lexi’s birthday came around, things took a bizarre turn.
The therapist sent Lexi fifty dollars through Venmo for her birthday. And at one point, she even invited Lexi to her house for dinner. It made Lexi uncomfortable because she did not decide to go to therapy to make new friends.
Several TikTok users let Lexi know that both of her therapists had behaved in wildly inappropriate ways and encouraged her to continue searching for a suitable therapist.
“I don’t understand what he thought to accomplish by telling you that you might not even be your father’s child?! Like, is that therapeutic?”
“Those therapists are terrible and unethical. Keep trying to find someone if you want to. When you find the right person, it’s amazing,”
“Those are not normal behaviors!!! Especially the woman sending you money and inviting you to a party!!!”
@thelexistout This cant be normal…. #therapy #therapyexperience
