Hurt by the insensitivity of these comments, she had finally had enough.
“I finally got tired of it and said no, it isn’t all fun, actually. I’d rather have my dad and mom alive than live with Grandma and Grandpa. Well, I said it pretty loud, so everyone heard me,” she said.
Once her aunts overhead this, they immediately started saying she was acting selfish and was being ungrateful for everything her grandparents were doing for her. She didn’t mean for the comment to come off as unappreciative of her grandparents. She just missed her parents and was tired of her cousins belittling her emotions.
“My grandparents themselves said they understand what I was saying, and it’s not that I’m ungrateful for my grandparents; I just rather have my dad still around,” she added.
