When she met them at the restaurant, her father’s wife immediately commented about how weird it was to see her without her ex-husband and proceeded to ask if she would be offended if she ordered a mimosa even though she was going through a hard time.
After this, she went straight to giving her father’s wife short one-word answers to any questions and would try to change the subject by asking her father things she knew he would talk about at length.
Because of all the emotions that she was going through, she had a difficult time eating in general, so she only took a couple of bites of her food.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like it; she just couldn’t get herself to eat it. However, her father’s wife caused a big scene by telling her she should send the food back to the kitchen, and even asked the waiter if her meal could be covered since she was going through such a hard time already and now didn’t like her food.
This was her last straw! She apologized to the waiter, said goodbye to her father, and left the restaurant.
“My father is very upset and says I should have at least smiled and appreciated that she was trying to ‘take care of me.’ I told him I made it clear that I didn’t want her or anyone to take care of me and that I warned him my coming to this was solely to appease him,” she stated.
Do you think it was rude of her to get up and leave the restaurant? Or do you think her father should not have brought his wife since she really didn’t want to see her?
