Dunkelberg’s neighbors loved the lights, their excitement for the season restored upon seeing them illuminated at night.
One neighbor, Molly Garrison, called the idea “awesome” and said that Dunkelberg had a “generous heart.”
Another neighbor, Bing Nearing, also praised Dunkelberg on behalf of the older residents. “I’m sure the whole neighborhood appreciates it. I, for one, do because I’m a little bit senior, and it’s hard to get up on the roof now,” he said.
Previously, Dunkelberg hadn’t known his neighbors very well, but the lights have allowed him to get closer to them, forging new connections. Thanks to just one man, Christmas is in the air in this once-dark neighborhood!
