This 25-year-old woman suffers from lupus and fibromyalgia.

From late 2021 through late 2022, she was essentially bedbound.

Throughout that year, she lost between 20 and 30 pounds, and numerous family members noticed this, often remarking about how “‘sick'” and “‘underweight'” she appeared to be.

Luckily, she has made progress with her health since then, but it’s a process, and she still has flare-ups due to her diseases.

Not long ago, she got married.

Ever since then, both of their families have constantly asked them when they’re planning to have children.

“This is a sensitive topic for me because I want children, but I’m very worried about the possible complications pregnancy and childbirth could pose to my already fragile health,” she said.

Because of the colder weather recently, her lupus has been getting worse, and she’s been ill several times over the last several months.

Everyone who has been badgering her about having a baby is well aware that her health has been on the decline lately.

Understandably, it’s been frustrating to hear others telling her what she should do with her life, so a couple of nights ago, it became too much for her to bear, and she snapped.

She and her husband went out to dinner with both of their families.

“My mom and his mom both brought it up to me again, and I (who already told both of them my concerns in the past with my health and childbirth) was blunt and told them how I’d read up on women with lupus and childbirth and my concerns with it,” she explained.

Neither of them listened to her and instead brushed her aside.

They started going on about the supposed magic of essential oils and suggested that she talk to doctors who were on her husband’s military base.

Unfortunately, she has not had many positive outcomes when she’s gone to doctors in the past. It took her five years to be diagnosed with lupus.

“I was just baffled at this point and felt so defeated, and I just lashed out and stated that I wasn’t going to kill myself for a baby because the mortality rate for women with lupus is 300 times higher than that of normal women in childbirth,” she shared.

Later, her mother scolded her for what she said, claiming it was uncalled for.

Her mother added that she devasted her mother-in-law by making it clear that she wasn’t going to become a grandmother.

However, she doesn’t think she said anything out of line.

From her perspective, their families have been putting a potential child ahead of her health. They have been pressuring her to have a child when she isn’t healthy at the moment.

Her husband had a talk with both of their mothers and asked them to drop the subject because it had negatively affected her so much.

What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
