Everyone’s Trying To Make Her Dump Her Boyfriend Because He Was Engaged To Her Sister’s Best Friend
This 21-year-old girl has a sister a year older than her named Lyla. Lyla has a best friend named Kate, and Kate was previously engaged to a man named James.
She grew up quite close to her sister and her sister’s friends since they’re all from a tiny town down South.
Back when they were all in high school, Kate and James began dating. She always thought they were a wonderful couple, and they seemed incredibly happy to her.
When senior year came to a close, James wound up proposing to Kate, who said yes. Then, James joined the Army.
“Well, while James was in basic training, Kate cheated and became pregnant,” she explained. “News travels fast, and eventually Kyle (who was dating my older sister Lyla) told James. He was heartbroken.”
Kyle also happens to be best friends with James, so he didn’t think it was right to keep such a terrible secret from him.
Kate was confronted about her cheating, and she said she couldn’t go through with marrying James since he was black and people in their town were completely bigoted.
When Lyla filled her in on all this, she saw red. She couldn’t believe that Kate could be so heartless and mean.
“Kate and her affair partner moved in together. They are engaged,” she said. “Two years ago, my sister Lyla and Kyle got married.”

“Kate and I were both in the wedding party, and James got leave to attend. James and I struck up a conversation at the wedding. He is amazing. He hadn’t dated seriously since breaking up with Kate.”
“I caught Kate shooting daggers at me a few times on the wedding night, but overall, it was a great night.”
After Lyla’s wedding, she and James kept in contact with one another. They spent close to a year just talking before they began dating.
Lyla was thrilled when she told her the news; as Lyla says, James is a truly great guy. Kyle was super excited for them to be in a relationship as well.
Everyone celebrated her being with James, except for Kate. When Kate found out, she accused her of intentionally dating James in order to hurt her feelings.
Ever since, Kate has been incessantly calling and texting her insisting she has to dump James. Kate has also been all over Lyla about helping to facilitate this.
Lyla maintains she’s going to be the neutral party here, though Lyla has told her in secret that she’s on her side.
“I really like James, he’s such a good guy, and we have a ton in common,” she said. “His service in the Army is almost up.”
“He is planning to move to the city where I currently attend college (same state as our town but about 2 hours away). I want to see where this relationship can go, but while talking to a friend of mine she said she gets Kate’s angry and I’m in the wrong here.”
“So am I? Should I break up with him? Looking for opinions of strangers because everyone else is way too close to the situation.”
