Revenge has its roots in evolution, and it's entirely normal to want to retaliate against someone who has done you wrong (though I'm not saying that makes it right).

If you broke up with your partner, only to discover they were hooking up with your sibling, would you get revenge on them by going after their parent?

This 27-year-old woman spent three years with her 26-year-old ex-boyfriend. They split up back in January after getting into the same argument for months on end, making for a pretty destructive cycle.

She knew her ex's dad for several years. He's in his early 50s and got divorced from her ex's mom quite a while ago. She always got along decently with him, but it wasn't like she had the hots for him or anything like that.

Anyway, after the breakup, her ex didn't turn off location sharing, so she could clearly see that he kept popping up at her sister's apartment building several nights a week.

Often, her ex slept over there. Now, she's never been that close with her sister, as they don't have any commonalities. Her sister and her ex always got along well, but that didn't seem to be cause for concern.

It took her a bit to figure out why her ex would be spending so much time in the same building where her sister lived. But one day, she came across an old story her sister had shared on Instagram that her sister had accidentally set to public.

She could see it was a photo in her ex's apartment with all of his belongings in there, too. She quickly pieced together that her ex was hooking up with her sister.

"She texted me a few days later, explaining how it happened and how long. I read part of it and didn’t respond. Blocked her everywhere: Instagram, her number, all of it. Did the same to my ex. Three years, and he did that with my own sister," she said.

"I don’t owe either of them a conversation. A few weeks later, I called his dad about what my ex did. We got food a couple [of] times. It kept happening every couple [of] weeks after that. One night, I stayed late at his place and didn’t leave. We started sleeping together after that."

They kept it all a secret for a period of time, but then her ex's dad told her ex what they were doing, as he was afraid her ex would find out from someone else.

Her ex did try to contact her, but remember, she had already blocked him. Her sister reached out to her from a different phone number, wanting to know if she was really sleeping with her ex's dad.

She did not give her sister a reply, but news has traveled fast, and her mom and dad have been clued in. They're wildly upset with her, and more angry with her than about what her ex and sister are up to.

"My mom’s exact words were, 'His father is old enough to be your father.' Nobody’s told my ex or my sister they did anything wrong. I’m the one getting the disappointed calls," she continued.

"My ex showed up at my apartment three days after he found out. I watched him on my Ring camera, ringing the bell, then knocking when nothing happened. He tried calling too; didn’t even ring through since I’d blocked him."

"He waited a couple of minutes, knocked once more, then left. I’m not losing sleep over it. They didn’t think about me when they did what they did, so I’m not pretending I owe either of them the moral high ground now. I genuinely don’t regret it, and I’ll admit the main reason I did sleep with his father was tit for tat."

Did she take the messy, nuclear approach? Absolutely. But does that make her a jerk? Not even close. Let's look past the shock value for a second here; it's humiliating to have your ex decide your sister is the next best option in their love life.

Her mom's reaction is deeply unfair and, quite frankly, cowardly. I think it's much easier for her parents to be mad at her for dating an older man than it is for them to face the devastating reality that one of their daughters is a predatory backstabber.
