Mary And Margaret Gibbs Were Conjoined Twins Born In 1912, And They Decided To Remain Physically Attached To Each Other For Their Entire Lives

In 1942, the sisters retired from performing and returned to Holyoke to open up a gift shop. They sold cards, vases, homemade baby clothes, and other novelties.

The store stayed in business until 1949, when Mary and Margaret decided to step out of the public eye altogether. After the store closed, they were seldom spotted outside of their home, except for when they visited church.

In 1966, Margaret was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Still, the twins refused to be separated. Over the next year, the cancer spread to Margaret’s lungs, and she passed away on August 29, 1967.

Mary died just two minutes later. At the time of their deaths, they were 55. The twins were buried together, as was their wishes.
