“Silent Reviews” Are The Latest TikTok Fad, Pushing Creators To Toss Traditional Product Review Methods Out The Window And Give Their Two Cents On Items Using Only Facial Expressions And Hand Gestures

Later in her video, Izzy is seen shaking her head ‘no’ with a disgusted look on her face as she silently reviews a mascara.

“The way I prefer silent reviews over regular ones,” commented a TikTok user on Izzy’s video.

Izzy responded to the comment, mentioning that the silent reviews are “so fun” to make.

The silent review trend did not come out of thin air but was actually kicked off by Stephanie (@stephreadsalot), a creator who makes all kinds of book and reading-related content.

She made the first silent review video after a viewer asked her to make a book review video using only “gestures and expressions.”

In Stephanie’s video, which she posted in October 2023, she can be seen hilariously giving silent reviews of seven books, quietly displaying her love or disinterest in them.

Since then, silent reviews have become a “must-do” video for anyone aspiring to be a viral influencer or content creator, no matter their niche interest.

If you had to silently review something, what would you choose?
