Her Neighbor Threw Out $1,000 Worth Of Her Diabetes Supplies That Got Delivered Right To Her Door

Unfortunately, mail theft is pretty common. From pilfering packages to snatching sensitive documents, mail thieves prey on poor, unsuspecting victims for personal gain. The act of stealing mail is not just a crime; it’s also a violation of privacy. And in some cases, it can be the difference between life and death.
TikToker Nikki (@nroc43) has Type 1 diabetes, and she’s sharing about how her neighbor threw out the diabetes supplies that got delivered to her door, costing her over $1,000.
One week in July, she received a package of her diabetes supplies from a company that offered a special recycling program after delivery. It required recipients to remove their stuff, leave the box in front of their door, and notify the company. Within three hours, someone from the company would pick it up.
So, that’s just what Nikki did. She left her medium-sized box in front of her door and went to run some errands for five to six hours. When she returned, the box was gone, and a note was taped to her door. Immediately, she knew it was from the woman who lived down the hall because the woman had left notes on other people’s doors before.
The note said that if she saw another box or package in front of Nikki’s door, she would throw it away. This made Nikki a bit nervous, but she decided to ignore the note. Two days later, she ran into the woman in the elevator.
She restated what was written in her note, adding that it was unseemly to have boxes cluttering up the hallway. Nikki explained that she regularly had diabetes supplies delivered to her door and asked her neighbor not to throw anything away. Her neighbor did not say anything in response.
A couple of days after that, she got a notification that her diabetes supplies had been delivered while she was out. They had also sent a photo of the box on her doorstep. She went home to get the package, but when she arrived, it was no longer at her front door.
Realizing that her neighbor may have taken it, Nikki knocked on her neighbor’s door and asked if she had the box. The woman told her she had recycled it. Nikki informed her that the box had not been empty and that it contained two to three months of medical supplies.
Then, she went to the management team for help in resolving the issue. However, the woman lied about throwing away the box. Unfortunately, there was no way to confirm the truth since the cameras in the hallway were broken.

Nikki noted that the supplies had cost $1,000 and was unsure if her insurance would cover another delivery. She added that she left a random box outside her door for four days just to spite her neighbor.
Three days after her initial post, she shared an update on her situation following a meeting with the police and the landlord of her building.
The landlord couldn’t do anything because Nikki didn’t have any proof that the neighbor was the culprit. Afterward, she filed a police report and was told the same thing as what the landlord had said.
She went to work, and when she came back, there were three items in front of her door: a bouquet of flowers, which she tossed in the garbage, some of her medical supplies, and the Christmas tree she had bought that had been stolen from the mail room.
Nikki believes that the landlord told the woman she was filing a police report, so she got scared into giving her stuff back.
However, Nikki’s insulin was missing from the supplies, so she still needed to file a report with her insurance.
Her lease was up soon, and in the meantime, she got a PO box for her deliveries.
