She Works In A Pediatrician’s Office, And One Time A Mom Walked In Without Her Child Thinking She Could Just Have The Appointment Instead

Being a mother is one of the most challenging jobs on the planet. Trying to manage kids bouncing off the walls and dealing with partners constantly pestering you about what you’re having for dinner every night is enough to make any mom want to scream.
With all the hustle and bustle of domestic life, it can be easy for some things to slip from a mom’s mind. But that’s just part of being a parent. It’s normal and nothing that they should feel guilty about.
However, there are some parents out there who are just plain ignorant when it comes to the actual parenting part of child-rearing.
Kelsea (@justwitchingaround) works in the healthcare field, and she is sharing a story on TikTok about one mom that will have you wondering why there isn’t a license people need to obtain before being allowed to have kids.
So Kelsea has a job in a pediatrician’s office, and one day, she encountered a mother who didn’t realize she needed to bring her son in for his own appointment.
She didn’t just forget to bring him along. She honestly thought the appointment could be held without his presence.
Here’s how the interaction went down: When the mom checked in for her son Andrew’s appointment, Kelsea noticed he wasn’t present and asked where he was.
“Well, it’s only one o’clock. He’s in school,” answered the mother.
“Okay, so Andrew has an appointment today, but he’s at school,” clarified Kelsea.

“Yes, I couldn’t take him out of school just for an appointment. I’m here to do it for him,” said the mom.
Then, Kelsea informed the mom that, unfortunately, the child was required to be there for the appointment.
“Well, that’s ridiculous. I’m just here to see the dietitian. He doesn’t pick his food; I do, so the appointment should be for me,” reasoned the mom.
She continued to claim the whole situation was ridiculous while Kelsea apologized and agreed. But in her head, she gave herself a mental facepalm the entire time.
Several TikTok users who also worked in healthcare could confirm that they’ve also dealt with nutty parents before.
“I’m a peds PT, and this happened to me…how am I supposed to do any PT without the child,” shared one user.
“The accuracy in this. I worked as a receptionist in one and the amount of parents that thought this was how it works was appalling,” commented another.
“The fact that people like that are parents is beyond me,” stated a third.
