For the past seven months, TikToker Junior (@juniorocomedy) and his wife have been going to couples therapy. They had chosen this particular therapist because they liked her approach.

She would teach them certain tools to use to communicate their feelings and give them a progress report of where they were at each month.

Once they had figured out how to interact with each other in a healthy way, they no longer needed to return to therapy.

Everything seemed to be going well for a while. However, things took a turn for the worse during their last session. The therapist started out the session by saying that she didn’t think Junior and his wife were in love.

She also didn’t see them staying together as a couple in the future and believed that they were just trauma-bonded.

She explained that Junior became the way he was because he grew up in the streets and had to make tough decisions. On the other hand, his wife grew up very sheltered and wasn’t allowed to make decisions, so she was drawn to him because he tended to be a little controlling.

According to the therapist, they didn’t really trust each other and were just reliving their childhood trauma every day. The therapist added that she saw that kind of dynamic very often in Latin culture.

Junior pointed out the many great moments he has had with his wife throughout the ten years they had been together, but the therapist dismissed them, claiming that they were all trauma-based.

At that point, Junior was extremely confused. He asked the therapist if she was only saying that stuff because they were Latin. The therapist accused him of calling her a racist. They started arguing back and forth, and eventually, she told Junior and his wife to leave.
