Another misconception about goldfish is that they only live for up to two years. In reality, healthy goldfish kept in a well-maintained environment can live as long as 15 years.

Of course, goldfish that are improperly kept in a small bowl will die in one to two years because of their poor living conditions.

They don’t have enough space to continue growing, and the oxygen in small bowls doesn’t circulate well, resulting in early death.

Overall, goldfish are beautiful, colorful creatures that make great pets, but they are a lot more demanding than most people realize.

So, if you want to purchase one for your kids, make sure that you’re aware of the proper care requirements.
