After that, Marianne quit working at the restaurant. She did not feel safe there and was upset about the lack of support from the people she was working for.
In 2020 and 2021, she started making videos about her experiences in customer service, including this one involving the Mexican restaurant. She never revealed the names of the owners, the restaurant, or the town she lived in, yet some TikTok users from her hometown figured it out.
Years later, Marianne was working at a new job in another city. One day, her old coworkers suddenly sent her screenshots of the Mexican restaurant’s social media page. The owners were defending themselves and tried to share their side of the story.
However, hundreds of people called them out for not sticking up for their employees. The restaurant had to unplug their phone lines for over a week and take down their review sites because their ratings had dropped.
Today, the restaurant is still open for business, but it just goes to show that the power of social media can spread the truth and let smaller voices be heard. In a way, justice was served.
