When this woman was 16, she and her dad bonded over ghost hunting. Her dad went ghost hunting as a teenager and lived in a tiny town in the Rocky Mountains, which Mormon pioneers founded.
At a family reunion, they camped out in this town in the Rockies, and her dad had the idea of exploring a graveyard rumored to be haunted.
She and a couple of her cousins went with him to the tiny graveyard with headstones of deceased Native Americans and pioneers.
The cemetery was ancient, and the majority of the headstones weren’t marked. At the time, she didn’t have much knowledge of ghost hunting or how to do so appropriately and respectively.
“I thought it would be interesting to see if I could capture a recording of their voices. I called out to the space and asked if anyone was there. My cousins tried asking questions as well. We asked if anything could try to make a sound, touch us, or move something,” she said.
After stopping the recording and playing it back, she didn’t hear any paranormal noises and was disappointed.
She and her cousins returned to the camp where they were celebrating their family reunion, and they went to sleep.
The following day, she left the family reunion and went to her mother’s house, and nothing out of the ordinary happened until she was getting ready to sleep.
She wanted her dog, a border collie, to sleep in the bed with her, like every night, but her dog was nowhere to be found.

Even though it was strange that her dog didn’t want to sleep with her, she gave up looking for her and went to bed alone.
Eventually, she fell asleep but was suddenly startled awake during the night. An alarm clock was on the bedside table; when she checked the time, it was 3 a.m.
As she sat up in bed, she heard a subtle scratching noise and had no idea where the noise was coming from.
“As that sound grew louder, the doorknob started to jiggle. It slowly turned all the way around, and the door creaked open. It opened all the way, and in the doorway was a black, smokey-looking creature taller than the frame itself. He had glowing, yellow eyes, and I could make out its mouth with sharp-looking teeth,” she explained.
Understandably terrified, she panicked and dove under the blankets. Before she threw the covers completely over her head, she saw the paranormal entity lunge toward her, and she felt movement as if it had hopped onto her bed.
It slithered, slinked, and wriggled around, speaking in a language she’d never heard before. She sobbed and begged for someone to help and protect her.
The paranormal figure didn’t leave until 6 a.m., and she couldn’t fall asleep while it was still in the room.
Once the entity finally left, she slept until she woke again at 11 a.m. She wasn’t sure if she’d seen the scary creature in real life or a nightmare.
However, once she noticed her bedroom door was partially open, she instantly realized it hadn’t been a dream.
While she had no idea how to defend herself against the possibly evil creature, she knew she wanted her dog in the bedroom with her the following night. Before bed, her dog lay at the foot of the bed and seemed nervous.
She fell asleep, and, like the previous night, she was suddenly awoken at exactly 3 a.m. Her dog was looking at the corner of the room and began to growl.
Immediately, she realized her dog was growling at the terrifying creature who visited her the night before, and it stood in the corner of the room.
“It was standing and staring at me, not moving but smiling awkwardly. My dog was trying to inch closer, growling intently. As she did, the creature vanished. Of course, I didn’t sleep until I thought it was safe to do so,” she shared.
The following day, she researched online to find out how to scare the paranormal entity away. She learned that the best method was to burn incense and chant out loud that she wouldn’t let any entity continue following her or haunting her house.
So, she followed the instructions she’d read online, and after purchasing incense, she burned it and walked around the whole house, chanting as she went to each room and entryway.
Later that night, she hugged her dog before bed, hoping the incense worked and that the creature would leave them alone from now on.
Luckily, it worked, and she and her dog had a peaceful night. The paranormal entity never haunted her again. But to this day, she sometimes worries it will return, stronger than before.
