As her grandmother neared the end of her life, TikToker Paige (@paigechappel) often observed her grandmother swatting at nothing in the air.
She claimed that there were things flying around her. She would also see a man in the corner of the room.
One day, Paige’s mom was doing her grandmother’s hair in the bathroom while Paige’s aunt was at the store. Her mom suddenly felt a huge gust of wind as if someone was walking briskly past them in the hallway.
Paige’s mom was startled and peeked out the door. She called for Paige’s aunt, but she wasn’t home. Later, it happened again, and this time, her mom saw someone walking by out of the corner of her eye.
She went into Paige’s grandmother’s room to check on her. Her grandma asked her mom if she had seen the man, and her mom said yes.
It was a pale, cloaked figure wearing a button-up shirt with a high ruffled collar and ruffles on the sleeves. He was wearing a top hat as well.
Paige’s mom tried talking to the man. She told him that they were not ready for Paige’s grandmother to go. A few days later, her grandma was watching TV when her mom walked in and asked if she wanted to change the channel to the Today Show.
Her grandma said, “No, he’s here.”
Before either of them could utter another word, Paige’s grandma had peacefully passed away. According to Paige, the mysterious man was the angel of death coming to guide her grandma’s soul into the next life.

In the comments section, many TikTok users reported experiences with loved ones speaking to unseen visitors. These moments became treasured memories because they bring comfort, hope, and the feeling that perhaps none of us are truly alone at the end.
“I worked end-of-life care for like five years, and almost every patient I cared for saw the hat man shortly before they passed. It’s honestly crazy,” commented one user.
“The night before my grandma passed, she told my dad that her mom was in the corner telling her to come home. It gives me hope that I’ll see my family when it’s time to go,” wrote another.
“Girl, my sister passed similarly. She had a dream where my deceased dad came and wanted to take her, but she kept saying it’s not the time. So, he let her live, but then came again, and that night, she was dead,” added a third.
“My grandma saw my brother, who passed in 2019, before she passed in 2020. I was lying next to her. I saw a vision of her leaving. She looked back and smiled at me. It was peaceful,” shared someone else.
