Sophia charges her clients $150 per night during overnight babysitting or nanny gigs, yet some have difficulty understanding that.
For instance, one mother sent her a rude text because of how much she found out she was charging for an overnight gig.
“One day, you’ll be a mother and understand this rate is crazy,” wrote the mom.
“While my kid will be sleeping the majority of the time, you want me to pay you to just sit there and watch TV? Also, yeah, my old sitter only [charged] $7.25 an hour.”
After comparing Sophia to her old nanny, the mom sarcastically wished her “good luck.”
A lot of the texts include messages from parents who tried guilt-tripping Sophia into changing her rates, which was difficult for her to deal with.
For instance, one person texted her that if they asked her to be flexible or change her rates, it was likely because they were in a tough spot, and if she were a “good person,” she’d help them out.
The last text in her video, which Sophia considers the worst, was from a woman who wanted her to bend her rules. She tried to pay Sophia to watch two of her kids even though she had four.
The other two, whom the mom called her ‘older‘ children, were only seven and eight years old, but the mom said they wouldn’t need to be watched by Sophia, as they could play on their own.
Sophia knew that was a big red flag, as she’d likely get roped into watching and entertaining all four children instead of two.
