Her Coworker Decided To Throw A Funeral Dress Rehearsal While Being Very Much Alive, So She Lied To Get Out Of Attending The Strange Event

Funerals are a custom that allows people to grieve the person they’ve lost, reminisce about memories together, and share how much they care about the departed.

So, would you ever want to be a fly on the wall for your own funeral?

In theory, the idea is kind of humorous. You’d get to hear all the nice things people have to say about you before you kick the bucket.

But can you imagine actually throwing a fake funeral and inviting everyone you know for this purpose?

One woman was recently invited to a similar shindig by one of her coworkers, who is ironically named Karen. According to her, Karen is a “character.”

“Karen is always talking about these elaborate plans for every possible scenario,” she detailed.

Then, just last week, Karen came up with a plan to celebrate her own death – before it even happens.

More specifically, her coworker actually pre-planned an entire funeral. Karen had finished the guest list, gotten a caterer, and hired a DJ because, apparently, her coworker wanted her funeral to be a “lit celebration” of her life.

And yesterday, Karen actually approached her and invited her to this strange event.

“Hey, just so you know, I’ve penciled you in for my funeral next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. It’s going to be fabulous, and I’d really appreciate your attendance,” Karen told her.

The main problem she has with this is the fact that attending someone’s funeral who is still alive feels very strange. Not to mention, she already intended to cozy up at home next Saturday – eating pizza and rewatching a Netflix series.

That’s why, before she could even stop herself, she just told Karen that she wasn’t able to attend the funeral since she was busy.

Well, this made Karen’s face go cold, and her coworker couldn’t believe that she was busy. Karen even said, “You can’t be too busy for a friend’s funeral.”

“Now, Karen has been giving me the cold shoulder ever since, and our other coworkers are split,” she revealed.

Some people have actually called her a heartless jerk for refusing to attend the “funeral dress rehearsal.” At the same time, other coworkers agree that Karen is bizarre for expecting everyone to go along with this strange event.

So now, she can’t help but wonder if sort of lying about being busy just to get out of her coworker’s pre-emptive funeral was really so crazy or not.

Do you think that Karen is onto something, or is the idea of throwing a funeral while still alive just too strange? Would you attend an event like this or not? Should she feel guilty about not going?
